Services

TIR Consulting LLC (TIR) is a nationally recognized firm specializing in Form 1099 compliance and information reporting matters. Our goal is simple: to help clients stay abreast of the ever-changing world of tax compliance law through offering informed and practical advisory services.

The core of our service consists of the innovative virtual TIR Answer Center - featuring veteran tax attorneys answering subscriber questions within two business days or less, as well as regularly published industry leading publications. In addition, we also offer consulting services relating to tax information reporting including:

Private In-House Seminars and Webinars

In today's era of cost-cutting, training budgets are tighter than ever. That's why our tax attorneys will come to you, delivering a uniquely customized experience that can be found nowhere else offering a high end but reasonably priced service.

TIR begins development of a private, in-house seminar by conducting a conference call with key personnel in your organization as designated by you to discuss the tax reporting situations, products and transactions, and the types of payments and payees most frequently dealt with by your organization.

Then, your TIR consultant will develop an agenda featuring customized segments that address your particular needs, and illustrate regulatory requirements in terms of your typical transaction types, payee identification and documentation needs. What's more, most one-day programs are worth up to 5 CPE's - depending upon total instructional time selected (TIR Consulting LLC is currently registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have the final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org). Please see the link at the bottom of this page for more on relevant standards including record retention and other such policies.

Once the agenda is agreed upon, TIR will develop presentation slides and supporting educational and reference materials. The seminar is presented at your location. In planning your attendance, you should include all departments that impact tax reporting in that area. Your TIR consultant will therefore take into account multiple employee levels of expertise likely to attend, and plan accordingly; so the experience can be one that leaves your staff comfortable with the regulatory environment, risks, and complexities of your reportable transactions.

Three months post-seminar support service is included to answer your seminar attendee's questions, and help reaffirm and expand upon what was learned in the seminar they attended. We will assist in setting up your log on information for a primary contact person from the location at which the seminar was conducted, so that the information can be processed efficiently and then shared throughout departments as appropriate. Note that your questions will be answered by actual tax attorneys - providing your team with proven knowledge and expertise regarding tax and regulatory matters.

What's more you can get all of this, the onsite customized training program, supporting materials, and three months ongoing tax support - for a flat fee based upon the training program you choose plus the cost of our attorney's travel and expenses. Note that the final rate will be discounted 10% for subscribers to the TIR Answer Center.

Mock Audits

Our Mock Audit services are customized to your needs but following initial communications similar to those described above typically involve the following three steps:

Step One - Offsite Compliance Review
In this first step your TIR consultant will conduct a tax compliance review of written policies, procedures, and process flow documents for completeness and adequacy. In this part of the mock audit you will submit to TIR documents relating to policies, procedures and process flow for complying with IRS information reporting requirements, and TIR will review these offsite so as to minimize your expenses.

Step Two – Onsite Interviews
This work consists of conducting one-on-one interviews with the appropriate staff members. The interview focus is based upon information gleaned from step one and the initial phone consultation regarding the scope of the proposed audit.

Step Three – Report and Follow up Support
This work consists of preparing a draft report including but not limited to the following:

  • Review of method used in this project
  • Summary of findings
  • Recommendations of current processes that should be maintained
  • Recommendations for improvements
  • Summary of items where further study may be necessary

The fees quoted for mock audits are per project, independent of travel and expenses, and discounted for subscribers to the TIR Answer Center.
